For me, there is something magical about fabric. It is memory, imagination, and transformation. I love the intricate patterns, the bright colors, the luscious feel of velvet and satin — they speak to me of faraway lands, ancient cultures, cheerful childhoods, of proms and weddings and christenings.

Each Tribute doll showcases fabrics that hold special meaning to me — of other places and people, feelings of warmth and history, the proud heritage of another culture.

The fabrics are stitched together in the manner of a crazy quilt, where each scrap holds a story. The seams are embellished with embroidery thread, beads, buttons, and scraps of ribbon and lace — each stitch, each design enhancing the beauty and story of the fabric.

The quilting and embellishments on these dolls are done by hand — one seam, one stitch, one bead at a time.
