For me, there is something magical about fabric. It is memory, imagination, and transformation. I love the intricate patterns, the bright colours, the luscious feel of velvet and satin. They speak to me of faraway lands, ancient cultures, cheerful childhoods, of proms, and weddings, and christenings.

Each Tribute doll showcases fabrics that have special meaning to me. Whether of other places and people; feelings of warmth and history, or the proud heritage of another culture.

The fabrics are stitched together in the manner of a crazy quilt. In a crazy quilt, each scrap of fabric holds a story or a special meaning. The seams are embellished with embroidery thread, beads, buttons, and scraps of ribbon and lace. Each stitch, each design functions to enhance the beauty and story of the fabric.

The quilting and embellishments on these dolls are done by hand…one seam, one stitch, one bead at a time.
